The Character of Color by David Pollard

Painter and advertising executive David Pollard opened his solo exhibition Stamford Art Association Townhouse Gallery on 39 Franklin Street, The Character of Color. David is most known for his larger misty abstracts containing enigmatic symbols, experimenting with different combinations of colors, including the artwork featured above: Outlander, an oil on canvas.

David also debuted his smaller works, ethereal abstracts he creates while his larger oil paintings are drying. His smaller works feature more texture, and I consider the paintings abstract landscapes. The new works were very well-received because of their portable nature and they are suitable for home decor. My only qualm? They were difficult to photograph due to the glare of the glass. Autumn Squall 1 is pictured below. I enjoy his variation of the brushstrokes depicting the ground and sky, along with the white accents. The artwork appears to have a slight metallic finish.

Video reviews of The Character of Color on Art Critic in 1 Minute will be uploaded soon to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. SAA Gallery hours are 12-3pm Friday-Sunday.
