Summer Art Tour: Ocean City Gallery World Center
Hello,
I recently returned from Ocean City, Maryland, and I finally stopped by the Ocean Gallery World Center on the Boardwalk. Although Ocean City is known as a family-oriented beach town, it is wonderful to visit an approachable, fun gallery celebrating 61 years, that offers accessible ready-to-hang art, including artwork by local artists. The gallery is still owned by the founder Joe Kroart.
Ocean World Center at first glance from the exterior of the building, appears as if it would offer assemblage sculpture art. When I stepped inside, I saw photography, prints, and paintings depicting a variety of themes. The gallery reminds me of Crafters Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY. They may use some of the same suppliers for their artwork used for condos and hospitality businesses. They were Ocean Gallery does not have a website, although they are active on their Facebook page.
Price points start at $35 for small works made out of wood from the Ocean City Boardwalk with photos taken by local photographers of prominent landmarks affixed to the wood. They also offer custom framing. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Sunday 10-5pm. Ocean Gallery is located on 201 Atlantic Avenue.
Art Critic in 1 Minute now features Ocean Gallery in new episodes on Facebook and Instagram.
