Meeting Prolific Painter Dario Campanile at Sorokin Gallery

I had the pleasure of meeting Italian artist Dario and his wife Patricia Campanile at the Sorokin Gallery, now located in Westport, Connecticut. Founder Carole Sorokin hosted a reception featuring both Dario’s recent and earlier works. Dario begun his artistic career as a neorealist painter and transitioned to abstracts. He has also created bronze sculptures as well. Afterglow ed. 20/70  is pictured below with his abstract painting Atmosfera.
One of my favorite paintings is Two Strawberries (1987) pictured at the top, combining the Neorealist portrait rendering of two women, and the seascape background, according to the artist himself, which is painted in the Impressionist style. This scene is timeless.
Gallery founder Carole Sorokin states how accomplished Dario is at depicting clouds. Paramount pictures commissioned him to paint the iconic mountains behind their logo, because they admired the clouds in his artwork. Dario’s mountainscape painting was used as Paramount’s logo from 1987-2002.
His current work is primarily abstracts and abstract landscapes painted from his imagination. Changes of Seasons (2022) hanging on Carole’s red wall, features the desert, ocean, and an ombré sky inspired by multiple terrains combined into one image.
