Fashion Illustrations Exhibit at Serendipity
My fashion illustrations are now up at Serendipity Labs Co-working Space in Stamford, Connecticut on 700 Canal Street. Photographer and artist consultant Tania Hoppe is the curator, and I am exhibiting alongside artist and fashion designer Kiley Durham.
At a moment when the boundaries between fashion and fine art are ever more “porous”, my current exhibition with Kiley at Serendipity Labs in Stamford boldly asserts the enduring cultural and aesthetic value of fashion illustration. On view through March, this vibrant pairing of artists invites visitors into a world where line, gesture, and personality converge to articulate the spirit of contemporary style.
Both of us share a common medium — the fashion illustration — but our approaches lodge in contrasting sensibilities that enrich the viewing experience. Kiley’s artwork is immediately engaging for its fluid confidence of line and a subtle but daring embrace of abstraction. Her figures, elongated and poised, suggest movement and attitude more than literal representation, distilling the essence of a silhouette into expressive brushstrokes and nuanced color fields.
Whether you come seeking the poetry of line, the allure of style, or simply the joy of seeing two distinct artistic worlds in dialogue, this exhibition rewards careful looking. Running through March at Serendipity Labs in Stamford, it stands as a compelling testament to the continuing relevance of illustration in contemporary art practice.
There will be an opening reception I am hosting Thursday February 26th, from 6-8pm at Serendipity. If you plan on attending RSVP on our Events page.
If you visit, I hope you enjoy the Show! Serendipity Stamford offers rotating art exhibits every two months. Kiley will be also be hosting an event in March benefitting Breast Cancer. If you cannot make the reception, and you would like a tour of the exhibit, contact me, and I can arrange it for you.
