The Stamford Art Association presents Faces & Figures opening on Thursday, March 26th from 5:30-7PM. Gallery hours are Friday-Sunday 12-3PM. The show is on view through April 24th. The SAA virtual gallery for Faces & Figures will be up soon if you cannot see this exhibit in-person.
The juror is portrait artist and SAA board member Barbara Mathis who also leads the Stamford Art Association Member Critiques, and she is also on the Selection Committee for SAA exhibits. Barbara is a prolific figure painter. I have had the pleasure of reviewing her artwork on my Art Critic in 1 Minute series. Her works are featured in several private collections and have been featured in many juried and invitational exhibitions. They include events at the Katonah Museum of Art, Merrill Lynch and the Greenwich Arts Society among others. She is a tri-state artist and teacher who began in animation, working on the “Spiderman” cartoon series and later became the first women graphic artist at ABC News. She is an excellent example of how to apply the love of humanity to her daily life and art.

“What I enjoy most about Faces & Figures is the diversity of artwork, paintings, digital artwork, mixed-media, and photography. Black and white artworks juxtaposed with the vibrant and colorful. Although the show contains less artwork than most Stamford Art Association exhibits, and the works tend to be smaller, which is beneficial for newer collectors and/or those low on space, Faces & Figures is impactful, elevated, and thought provoking.”

Art Critic in 1 Minute reviews of Faces & Figures will be on  YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram this week! Will you be joining me Thursday?
