You can actually follow the trajectory—see the exhibitions, read the reviews, understand the context. That level of intimacy is rare at higher market tiers.

There’s also a responsibility here. When you invest locally, you’re sustaining the ecosystems that make art possible: studios, small galleries, nonprofits, and communities that nurture creative risk. Great collections aren’t built in isolation—they’re built in relationship.

And finally, the most compelling collections I see aren’t assembled from blue-chip names alone. They’re layered, personal, and rooted in place. Local and regional artists bring authenticity, narrative, and discovery into a collection in a way few other works can.
